Who are we?
-
There are places that change your life.
For us, it all began here, on the beaches of Hossegor and Capbreton, overlooking the Atlantic Ocean.
Thomas discovered surfing at the Estacade in Capbreton. He spent hours watching the waves, waiting for the right set, falling over and over again before finally experiencing that indescribable feeling: the sensation of gliding on the water for the first time.
As for me, Téhina, it was at the “Sud” spot in Hossegor that I fell in love with the ocean. The first white caps, the sunsets after our sessions, the smell of sand warmed by the sun, and that immense sense of freedom you can’t find anywhere else. The ocean has always been a part of our daily lives.
We surf there, spend hours watching the conditions, fish there, meet up with friends, or simply relax with our families.
Here, the beach isn’t just our office. It’s our balance, our playground, our home.
Surfing is much more than a sport.
It’s a way of life.
To the rhythm dictated by the tides, the wind, and the seasons.
Over the years, we’ve traveled, surfed elsewhere, taught at different schools, and met hundreds of students from all over the world.
But despite all these travels, we always came back here, to the Landes, where it all began. So we created Hossegor Surf Rendez-Vous.
A school that reflects who we are.
-
A flexible, caring, and welcoming school, a far cry from impersonal classrooms and overcrowded classes.
A school where we take the time to get to know you, choose the right spot, the right conditions, and the best time to give you a true surfing experience.
Because we know how much a first wave can leave a lasting impression.
Every session is different.
Sometimes the ocean is gentle and reassuring.
Sometimes it’s wilder.
But it always reminds us of something essential: to slow down, breathe, and enjoy the moment.Today, what makes us happiest isn’t just seeing someone manage to stand up on a board.
It’s that precise moment when a student steps out of the water with a smile, eyes sparkling, having experienced something real.
That’s what we want to share with you.Not just a surfing lesson.
A moment of ocean, freedom, and connection with this coast that we love so deeply.
The Surf School Team
TEHINA BLASQUIZ
State-certified since 2020
Born to an exotic mix—a Tahitian mother and a Basque father—Téhina Blasquiz was born in the heart of the Landes region. She quickly traded her corn cob for a surfboard.
At age 12, she took up surfing thanks to her older sister and has never stopped riding the waves at Hossegor, Seignosse, and Capbreton.
To further her skills, she set off on a round-the-world trip, visiting Costa Rica, Australia, New Zealand, and Indonesia, and discovered the joys of surf trips. Since then, she has never stopped traveling, balancing her life in Hossegor for part of the year with her winter trips to the tropics.
Her desire to teach came from her father, a rugby coach himself, who passed on his passion for sports in general to her.
Téhina sees surfing as a true moment of connection with nature and, above all, with herself.
As a woman, she had to overcome many challenges to make her way in a predominantly male and highly competitive environment:
• 2021 Landes Masters Champion
Driven by a desire to help others discover the ocean, she chose to become a state-certified surf instructor so she could share her passion and knowledge with her students on the beaches she has known since childhood.
THOMAS ESQUILLOT
State-certified since 2014
A native of Hossegor, Thomas Esquillot grew up on the Landes coast. Thomas knew how to surf before he could walk (or almost), and it shows!
He became an accomplished surfer thanks to training at the best surf clubs in France:
Capbreton Surf Club: Ages 7 and up
Hossegor Surf Club: Ages 14 and up
For several years, while pursuing his business studies, he competed at the national and European levels. Sponsored by Volcom, the brand with the diamond logo, he continued his rise to prominence and became:
Landes Champion
Runner-up in Aquitaine
13th place in the French Championship
Overall winner of the Volcom Tour Europe, which qualifies him for the world finals in Newport, California
Following a serious accident, he gave up competitive surfing, earned his surf instructor certification in 2014, and decided to pursue a different path. Thomas then set out to pursue a different dream: the quest for the perfect wave. This quest has taken him around the world—from North America to South America, via Asia—in search of unspoiled and sometimes wild waves, all while discovering new cultures. His adventures have made him a well-rounded surfer and an open-minded person who takes pleasure in sharing his knowledge and techniques with each of his students.
He continues this quest back home, where he’s known for always being in the right place at the right time...
